Newtrend IT: Friendly, Easy Business IT Support
In today’s world of rapidly changing technology, it is difficult for companies to keep up with IT demands. Many forward-thinking companies are bringing in outside IT experts to take over the burden. Newtrend IT is one such company that provides IT Support and Managed Services to small businesses across Perth. The ethos surrounding Newtrend IT is that they use the latest technology and services, but they adopt good old fashioned customer service which is built on communication, respect, and efficiency.
Nic Rando, Director of Sales, founded the company from his parents’ garage back in 2003. “IT was always a passion of mine, even as a young child. After graduation, I had a job training staff instead of doing technical jobs myself and so started working on the side,” explains Nic. “Eventually I quit my job and started Newtrend IT. My Dad cleared a space in the garage and set me up with a computer and tools, basically everything I needed to get started. In 2005, my brother Mitchell joined me.”
The company has grown steadily from its humble beginnings and currently has 25 skilled team members across two offices that offer IT Support, Managed Services, IT Consultation, and IT Infrastructure solutions.

Each area of the business has dedicated members and team leaders who monitor a purpose-built system that can track phone calls, wait times, KPIs and SLAs in real time. Having dedicated teams in place means better results for clients.
“We focus on taking away the day to day IT problems of companies so they can get on with what they do best. One thing that sets us apart is that we open from 6 am so that anyone with IT problems early in the morning has a point of contact they can get hold of. We’re able to sort their problem quickly so it doesn’t hold them up when normal business hours start,” states Nic.
Newtrend IT offers bespoke consulting services on site. This can involve analyzing general infrastructure, ICT planning and strategy, technological lifecycle planning, disaster recovery, and software implementation plans. A recent success saw Newtrend IT assist two companies to merge, both of whom had very different technologies in place. “We were able to look at the similarities in the two systems and match them up in terms of an integration strategy. From there we came up with a low impact plan that allowed the two companies to amalgamate that resulted in robust systems, very little user downtime and a solid growth plan moving forward.”
The company also offers fixed cost managed service products. This essentially means a client can ring up as many times as they want, seek as much advice as they want and they know it’s a fixed cost per month which is great for budget planning. Directors take pride in keeping in contact with management and directorship of their clients to ensure that any issues are ironed out quickly and properly.
Newtrend IT has just come through a major growth phase and are in the process of consolidating and reviewing their processes and procedures and getting ready for the next stage. “We’re looking to expand all teams, in all areas,” says Nic.
